Superlungs with Roger Daltrey

Thanks to everyone who came down to see us at the new music tunnel opening in Brighton on Tuesday, and those who saw us on ITV as well...

We were performing outside the Sealife Centre to open a new music tunnel dedicated to some of Brighton's musical artists and history, including The Who, Fatboy Slim, Leo Sayer, Adam Faith, and Quadrophenia.
We first played 'Telepath', before it was officially opened by Roger Daltrey (The Who), who signed his picture in the tunnel. It was amazing to see him again. He came on stage for a quick chat and some photos before we closed with 'La Di Da'.

It was great to be able to go home and watch it on TV afterwards, and we are all very grateful to David Courtney for letting us play.

Thanks again to everyone involved.

TOUR

Hi Everyone,

We've just got back from our Uk Tour, where we've travelled up all the way to Glasgow and right back down to Devon, playing some crazy gigs along the way. We got off to not such a good start, with an unpredicted false start trying to drive our trailer filled with all our gear out the studio gates, and once being on the road getting pulled over for being over weight...the trailer not us. We were beginning to wonder whether this tour would even happen at all, but luckily the rest of our journey was uninterrupted, apart from the horrible weather. (Pic right - The Lads)

Our first gig was at Uckfield’s 'Civic Centre' which was a great place to start the tour, and we all had great fun playing that one. 'Rock in the Bog' was an interesting one though, and it certainly did keep true to its name. It pored with rain the whole time and we had a power cut mid way through our set, which was a bit confusing.
Leicester seemed like a nice place to live, we were staying at Holiday Inn hotels almost the whole tour in identical rooms, so remembering where things happened is a little bit hard. The gig was wicked, we played with some other great bands and it was a really good laugh. Birmingham was cool too, apart from the torrential rain which made it a bit hard setting up our large in your face banner we brought with us, and getting our stuff in through the door, but fortunately our sound was incredible as we had our Producer Dave Garland doing sound for us on Skype over the internet. (Pic left - eau and Steph, who organized our gig in Devon)

Newcastle was the first time we had to really explore, and we got to have a wonder round the largest shopping centre in Europe, which we followed with our first ever Acoustic gig which happened to be a Radio show ne1fm, where we had an interview and performance. If that wasn't awesome enough, we also had two gigs playing with a band called 'Our Innocence Lost' who let us play a few gigs with them, Thanks Guys.

SCOTLAND! Finally we were going to be playing our first gig there, which we’d all really been looking forward to. The first hour of our first day couldn't possibly be more stereo typical, with us first walking by someone playing the bagpipes in the street, and then walking into a pub where there were two men in kilts with these large swords there. Jack didn't make us particularly popular with the locals claiming that Braveheart was on the front of a Scottish pound note, but it didn't stop them being the friendliest people in the world. (Pic right - DEAN! security and driver)

The next day before our gig we decided a go carting competition was in order in which Our driver Dean was sure he lapped everyone twice, but I beg to differ.
The gig was really good fun too in which our support band was Guitar Hero, AWSOME!
They had Guitar Hero projected across a massive screen blasted through speakers at a million Watts, and we all got some good practice in.

Next was the journey of journeys... Glasgow to Devon, in one hit. Ouch. Although I don't know what we're complaining about, since we got to sit in the back the whole time watching The Godfather while Dean did all the driving.
Devon was our last gig and we were playing at a place called The Underground, where we got to use our Record Companies P.A system and it sound bloody amazing. There place we were staying was a really nice place quite secluded with a tennis court which we took full advantage of. (Pic left - Admiring his work he had just done.)

Rockers poster, best support band ever!

Thanks alot everyone involved, and everyone who came to watch us.

LA DI DA Video Shoot.

Being woken up at 5.00am by the loudest alarm clock in the world wasn't the most pleasant thing anyone would hope to start the day with. Along with extreme temperature issues with the shower, which went from '7' being ice cold to '8' which was boiling . Add to that the fact we had been followed for the last two days by a documentary film crew and spent the entire time concentrating on not saying or doing anything we shouldn't!, we were already tired. However, these minor irritations soon faded into insignificance as our minds were fixed strongly on the day ahead, making our first Music Video.

We got to the site where we were going to film at about 6.30. It was a layby on the side of a small road leading to a farm, and there was an old what seemed to be abandoned trailer there which was our stage for the video.

The set up itself went quite well, although only five minutes from starting Will managed to break the stairs we used to get up to the trailer, making loading the gear onto it a lot more difficult... well done. But after that everything got really good fun, the sun came out with a blast of heat that seemed to come from nowhere, and we rocked "La Di Da" almost non stop for most of the day.
It was an amazing day to be outside the whole time, even if there were insufficient towels and fans available to keep Jack from pooring with sweat, it was a huge relief that it didn't rain as predicted.

Will trying not to die in the heat!!

Possibly the only photo of the Superlungs Team all together!!

We all had a terrific time making the video, and thanks so much everyone who came down and everyone involved, we really appreciate your help.

Keep an eye out for the video, as it will be here and available on Itunes soon...

Thanks again

The Superlungs Photo Shoot in Portugal

Day 1
With the disbelief of our Metabolism's we were picked up at 5am after returning from Germany just 5 hours earlier. Having managed to get to the Airport (With our Passports!) and a ludicrously small amount of luggage to allow for guitars and equipment we were slightly confused to see Beau arrive with his entire wardrobe especially as we had to sacrifice our PSPs to comply with Monarch Airlines very unhelpful baggage allowance! Still, providing the Eco Warriors didn't repeat their efforts as they did for our German trip (Thanks tree Huggers) everything was going splendidly.....
..... Until, having got comfortable on the plane it was announced that no one at Gatwick had predicted cold weather (in December!!) and the Runway had iced over.... Genius.

Approximately four... Yes Four hours later and only seconds before our Manager Ross was to experience the 1st ever case of Air rage on the ground, we achieved take off.

Two and a half further hours later, we touched down in sunny Portugal and having discovered that Beau was suffering from the worst case of man Flu ever we couldn't wait to find out where we were staying. (due to the Man Flu we had forgiven him for the excess baggage.... He really did need all that medication!!)

We were provided with an incredible Villa by Yellow Fish Music, Our Label, and Jack managed to blag himself the penthouse suit with panoramic views while the rest of us had rooms downstairs which were also awesome. A separate building in the grounds had been converted into a studio for us as some demo recording for the David Courtney project we are working on was on the agenda.

Day 2
day twoThis was spent in Faro starting in a shopping precinct for some documentary work. Footage of us wandering around aimlessly was required, (something we all excel at anyway!) but filming was rudely interrupted by security who didn't like the idea of cameras. We were surprised to find out that Portugal was a government run state until the 70s when a peaceful revolution took place so the freedom to film is a little way behind the rest of Europe (Bet you didn't know that!) Oh, and if our history is wrong then leave a comment - ok history lesson over -

After an unsuccessful filming but successful shopping trip we headed back to get in the studio. Poor Beau was still suffering from his cold so singing was out of the question. With no need for a coughing solo we put down a few backing tracks.

Day 3
day threeThis was the fist photo shoot day. We were taken to a harbour (somewhere) and enjoyed a day of sunshine. There was a lot of hanging around and odd looks from the locals but the session went well except for one casualty.... Yes, Jacks white shoes were ruined when he was forced to jump off a log into a pile of mud (we hope it was mud...) Ross (Manager) promised it would all be worth it for an amazing shot but we are yet to see the photo! We were also forced to agree to shove our front teeth into an ice cream so our facial reactions could be filmed, That's abuse I'll have you know!

After a tough day and damaged nerve endings, we headed back to relax in the villas heated pool, although Will was a little suspicious when he was handed a wet suit. Yes, it was freezing and after being practically forced by Beau and Jack to jump in he screamed like a girl and was out faster than he got in... We are still not sure if he knows it is all on film so look out for that one in future!!

Day 4
day fourWe met Gareth our Portugal based Photographer who was cool and took us to some great locations including strange alleyways, castle turrets and bizarrely, a beach covered in anchors. We had no idea how hard a day of photos could be and after standing freezing in the rain, getting covered in paint, and sand everywhere (And we do mean everywhere!) we were all knackered and Beau was in pain after being accidentally wiped out whilst running down a sand dune. (Also on Film!)

Day 5
As this was our last day we were taken out to see two different sides of Portugal that you wouldn't normally see on you average holiday. First was a huge market with an almost threatening vibe, countless knock off DVDs and Day fiveHugo BOOS! Aftershave. Again, we quickly discovered that filming here was impossible if we wanted to keep our equipment. Next we saw a stark contrast as we were taken to a gated community were several of the elite rich and famous have their holiday homes. This place was amazing with its manicured lawns and spectacular grounds but it was hard to imagine that the place we had been in hours earlier was on the same planet, let alone in the same country...... Something wrong with the world there??

We had a great time in Portugal and although hard work we are really pleased with the photos, demos and video footage we got so look out for all that in the near future.
